29 December 2012 — Project Real Life, Week 12

Week 12’s topic for Project Real Life is hope for the future. I have a lot of that! See my pages below.

My 12-week journey through Project Real Life has come to an end. I’ve done 24 pages for the 12 weeks. Now I need to think of a title page and last page, and the album will be finished. And not a moment too soon either. Project Life 2013 starts on Tuesday!

26 December 2012 — Project Real Life, Week 11

Week 11’s topic for Project Real Life was Memorializing the Past. I care about the past, because the past shapes the present and the future. I care about the past because, well, I’m nosey. I love to hear stories from the past, whether they’re about my family or my city or even someone else's family.

I like to repeat stories a lot, too, which is why I’ve considered assigning a number to each of my favorite family memories. Then as one surfaced in my brain, I could say, “I just thought of #11!” or, “I just thought of #234!” And everybody could laugh (if #11 and #234 are funny stories) and nod their heads in agreement.

Problem with my number system: Is it too much to expect all family members to commit the numbers and accompanying stories to memory? Wait!! I could make an Excel spreadsheet! I love spreadsheets! I make them all the time.

So, I could make an Excel spreadsheet for my memories, and put it in the family Dropbox. Then when I say, “Number 11!”, each person in my vicinity could take whatever electronic device he/she is staring at and go to Dropbox to figure out why I’m laughing (or crying).

This could work! At any given moment, everyone in my family is likely to be connected to some electronic device. Even 2nd Peter has his own smart phone.

Oh, my scrapbook pages. So the pages below are not about what’s going on in my life right now, but they’re about random memories from 2012 that are important to me.

19 December 2012 — Project Real Life, Week 10

Since the first of October I’ve been participating in an online class that uses Project Life products. The class is called Project Real Life. Each week the class participants receive handouts and a link to an online video, all of which related to a specific real life topic.

The pages I finished today are for Week Ten, and the topic is imperfection. I have a few of those. Guess what. We should embrace our imperfections! That’s good news for me, because I tend toward being a perfectionist. And if I can’t do something perfectly, I often don’t do it all. Or, I do it over and over, trying to get it perfect. Neither is very productive.

Hellen Keller said, “Face your deficiencies and acknowledge them; but do not let them master you.”

Below are my pages for the week about imperfections. This might be one of the strangest things I’ve ever posted on my blog. Well, there was the post where I confused a giant sea tortoise with seaweed, but that’s probably a common mistake.

I’ll be posting my last pages from my Project Real Life class to practice for posting my weekly pages when my fun time as a Project Life Creative Team member starts on the first of January! I know the overlapping names of these projects are confusing, but that’s not important now.
